Dr. Greg  Tyree, better known as Pastor Greg, was born in Lynchburg, VA and grew up in Nelson and Amherst Counties. He was saved at the age of 11 at the Grace Baptist Church (Madison Heights, VA), and was baptized at the age of 12 and called to preach at the age of 16 at the Bethel Baptist Church (Amherst, VA). He attended Liberty University where he received his bachelor's degree in ministry.  

During college, Pastor Greg met Lois Price, the love of his life. They were married on December 30, 1983 at the Bethel Baptist Church.

In 1989, he became pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Monroe, VA. He served Tabernacle Baptist Church for almost seven years, during which time he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel and attended Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. 

From Tabernacle Baptist, Pastor Greg and his family moved to the Northeast where he pastored for the next ten years. In the Summer of 2005, Pastor Greg moved his family back to his native Amherst County (Virginia). 

He began meeting with a small group of Christians for worship and God's leading at his home in Amherst. From this core group emerged the beginning of what would become GracePointe Baptist Church. In September 2005 Pastor Greg was affirmed as the founding pastor of GracePointe, and official meetings began in October 2005. GracePointe's charter membership was established on December 4, 2005.  

Pastor Greg is bi-vocational, meaning that he works outside the church to provide for his family. He is an author and serves as the Family Services Manager for Habitat for Humanity in Lynchburg, where he helps deserving families obtain affordable and decent housing. 

Pastor Greg and Lois are the proud parents of Lauren, married to Robert Turner, and Stephen, who is active as a musician for the praise team and as our sound tech. Lauren is a key leader in our children's ministry. Their first grandbaby, Scarlett Blair Turner, was born in September 2019 and has Pastor Greg and Lois tied around her tiny finger.
